The Rocky Swap was originally established in 1997 by two local service groups, who coordinated the event for more than two decades before retiring in 2023.
In 2024, CQ Events stepped in to ensure this much-loved community event continued.
Today, the Swap is held at the Rockhampton Showgrounds and features more than 1,100 sites, along with plenty of food and drinks. Onsite camping for swappers is available with bookings required, and from 2026 onwards camping will run from Thursday through to Sunday.
The Rocky Swap team is a collaboration of local businesses, service clubs, sporting groups and schools who assist with entry, parking and clean-up — keeping the community focus of the Swap alive. Funds raised help support a wide range of local projects.
