What size are the sites?
Most outside sites are 5m x12m. There are smaller sites located in the PP Area in Blue: 4m x 10m, Green Sites: 6m x 7m and Yellow 6m x 4m.
Most inside sites are 3m x 3m. Kele Pavilion does have some inside sites which are 3m x 4.5m.
However, each site category on the website includes a general description and size.
Where is the Rocky Swap held?
The Swap takes place inside the Rockhampton Showgrounds which are located between Exhibition Road, New Exhibition Road & Lion Creek Road in Wandal QLD 4700. Please refer to the map provided.
When is the Rocky Swap held?
The Rocky Swap is an annual Swap, held on the first Saturday of August. Public Entry Gates Open: 7am – 3pm
Where do the site holders enter?
The site holders enter through the gate located on Lion Creek Road (Labelled Gate 8 on the map) Please note this has been changed from previous years to assist with traffic management around the school.
When can the site holders enter the showgrounds?
Site Holders with Pre Booked camping can enter the Grounds on Thursday: 2pm – 5pm only. No entry before 2 pm.
Site holder access: Friday 10 am – 6 pm and Saturday 4:30 am – 6 am. Entry via the New Swappers Gate (Gate 8)
Entry is via Gate 2 only. between 6 pm – 8 pm Friday.
Please note that Swapper Entry Gate is closed between 8 pm and 4:30 am. Exit from venue is permitted during this time via the Exit Gate (Gate 9 on the map).
Pre arranged Deliveries (hired equipment and trailers) via Gate 2 only: between 4 pm – 6 pm Thursday.
You must have your current trybooking Rocky Swap Tickets with you and show this to the staff to enter the grounds. Please have this ready when you are in line to ensure a quicker entry. Tickets can either be printed or shown on your mobile phone as an image. Please have your screen brightness turned up as bright as possible if you are using your phone. Your tickets will be scanned upon entry.
In 2027, Swappers will be posted a Swappers Pack in June. Please ensure that we have your current mailing address as packs are to be treated as cash. Any replacements will incur a fee, starting at $10 depending on what is to be replaced.
All site holders and helpers must have the following before entering the line to enter the showgrounds:
– All wristbands must be worn on the wrist, this includes site holder and helper armbands and camping armbands (if camping onsite)
– Windscreen Sticker must be affixed to your windscreen – Site Number/s and Camping
If you do not have these (they are sent out in your Site Holder Packs in June) or you require more tickets, you must park your vehicle elsewhere and go to the Rocky Swap Office which is located in the Robert Schwarten Pavilion Foyer. Do not enter the line to the showgrounds without these, as you will be asked to leave the line. Swap Office is open 2pm – 6pm Thursday and 8am – 1pm Friday or additional tickets can be purchased online.
When can the general public visit the Rocky Swap?
Gates open to the general public at 7am on the Saturday of the Swap. Gates close at 3pm.
How much does it cost to visit the Rocky Swap? What is the entry fee?
The entry fee for Adults is $8 – while children up to age 12 cost $2.
What’s your refund policy?
If you are unable to attend due to illness, contact us before the Swap to discuss. Options include carrying your booking forward to the following year, or a refund at the organiser’s discretion.
Do you need Public Liability Insurance to have a Site at the Rocky Swap?
Yes every site holder must be covered by a Public Liability Insurance Policy. Why? If a person is injured within your site, your Public Liability Insurance Policy will protect you from a claim from the injured person/s. This could be something as simple as a person tripping within your site, dropping something on their foot or your marquee being damaged and injuring someone. ‘
The Rocky Swap Event Public Liability Insurance Policy provides insurance for anyone injured when they are in the common areas of the Swap e.g walkways, eating areas, toilet areas etc.
Note check with your existing insurer – they may be able to cover your site under your existing policy, otherwise, you can purchase your own Public Liability Insurance policy online from various insurers (estimated cost of $40 for one day) or you can add a Public Liability Insurance Ticket for $16.50 to be added to the Rocky Swap Uninsured Site Holders policy (cost is subject to review each year).
